  • Psychological Evaluation
Many individuals seek psychological evaluations for diagnostic purposes, while others seek out these evaluations to understand more about themselves and how to improve their lives.  Psychological tests measure intellectual functioning, academic levels, personality styles, dysfunctional and functional aspects of how we operate in the world and relate to others.  Psychological evaluations typically require two sessions of interviewing and actual testing time.   A final report will be provided which provides personalized recommendations and answer your questions.  Psychological evaluations are designed on an individual bases to ensure that you receive the answers to the questions you are seeking or an accurate diagnosis of the issues you are facing.  Psychological evaluations typically require six to eight hours that include the sessions, test scoring, interpretations, and report writing.

  • Risk Assessment
Risk Assessments are typically requested by organizations, such as a school or court.  Risk Assessments include psychological testing, interviews with the referred party, the collection of collateral information, and interviews with other interested parties.   Risk Assessments provide an appraisal of the referred party level of risk to engage in dangerous behaviors, such as aggression towards others. 

  • Diagnostic Consultation
Many people have questions about their mental health diagnosis and treatment or about a loved one's diagnosis and treatment.   Diagnostic consultations are designed to ensure you feel informed and how you can be helpful to yourself or a loved one.  Diagnostic consultations are designed to provide you with answers to your questions, provide feedback, and when indicated referrals.   Diagnostic Consultations are designed for 50-minute increments, however there are times when more session are requested or required.

  • Consultation
Consultations are designed for individuals seeking specific information which can be delivered within a half hour.

  • Supervision
Dr. Cavanaugh Ferguson is qualified to provide supervision to students from various disciplines, such as mental health counselors, social workers, and psychologists, who are seeking supervisory requirement.  Supervision is provided in 50-minute increments.

  • Professional Consultation
Professional Consultations are designed to provide working professionals with feedback as an ongoing part of their professional growth.  Dr. Cavanaugh Ferguson is qualified to provide consultation on psychological testing, educational assessments, and family, group, and individual therapy. Professional Consultations are provided in 50-minute increments.

  • Psychotherapy
People seek psychotherapy for a variety of reasons; sometimes people are dealing with life transitions while others have suffered for many years.  Dr. Cavanaugh Ferguson practices cognitive behavioral therapy, which includes an examination of how we think, feel, and behave.  From this starting point people can begin to make changes to how they think and feel and ultimate how they respond behavioral to improve their functioning.  The length of treatment is always dependent on your issues, goals, and motivation.  In general, Dr. Cavanaugh Ferguson conducts short-term treatment, which is less than three months when sessions are weekly.  Psychotherapy sessions occur within 50-minute increments.

  • Engagements
Engagements are designed for individuals who are seeking information, guidance, and active support for specific issues that arise in all our lives and who do not want to utilize their insurance benefits.  Engagements do not require the use of insurance benefits nor treatment plans and diagnoses that are associated with utilizing insurances.  Typically engagements are not for on-going mental health issues, but are a means of seeking professional assistance.  Engagements involve being listened to, receiving objective feedback, and gaining support within a confidential setting with a professional whose knowledge and experience can be of use in helping you resolve issues and moving forward towards your goals.
